Family Unit Review

What a great week we had talking about family.  We are so excited to be visiting with family for the next two weeks.  It's such a treat that we get to see both sides of the family, so we're pretty excited.

A favorite activity from the week was matching family members to each other.  She's really started getting this down and it's fun to see the progression in her skills.

She also loved making "family" puppets.  I didn't have paper bags or sticks so we used pencils.

And probably the highlight of the week was making our own finger paint and painting/collaging our family tree.

For some reason she didn't want to get her fingers too messy...so she ended up using a paintbrush for most of the "leaves."

She definitely enjoyed showing this to daddy when he came home!

What were your successes this week?  Any activity suggestions?

  1. We've started doing singing time. V will be in nursery next year, so I decided we'll start early working on the songs. Right now we're just doing the fun ones (like Snowman, I am a Child of God, etc) but starting in January we'll start learning the songs for the primary program. We'll probably put up a chart.

We also do songs for the activities we're doing - Janeen Brady has lots of great songs. If you know her music, then you know a song for everything. Quite literally. We did animals last week and I just grabbed a bunch of their animal toys and tossed them in a bag. They picked an animal, and then we sang that "animal" 's song. It was great, and kept the kids involved and engaged.

    Cute family tree!

  2. I think this blog is a fabulous idea! I was just telling Tod how excited I am for Clara to be big enough to do "school" things (though, I still want her to stay my little baby, hmmm). What a great way to enjoy it all... home and school. :)
